Hey guys, well I have had Guild Wars (normal - prophecies) quite a bit of time now, and I recently wanted to start playign it again.

A couple problems I am running into when trying to reinstall the game on my computer.

1) A lot of the time while it is installing, it will freeze and stop reading the disk. Sometimes it keeps goign after a couple minutes, sometimes I just have to end the process.

2) The biggest problem I have, and what is weird to me, is that after I finally get it installed, remember this is the first Guild Wars, the screen where I log in clearly says Nightfall which I dont have.

3) WHen I log into the game, loading a world TAKES FOREVER. And i mean that as in it takes probably 10 minutes to download 3 files of the "9,000 something or other" files needed.

My main hunch is that I need Nightfall to keep playing? Although I was under the impression we could play all 3 individually.

I am not posting computer specs due mainyl to the fact I am short on time, and I was able to play GUild Wars perfectly fine when I first got it (which was before the two expansions of course)

If someone could please help me, I would greatly appreciate it!

Although the specs are useful in this case I do not think they will be necessary. The loading screen says nightfall to all of us not only you, it is just what they have updated it to. Depending on your connection speed, downloading the new content (of which there is a rather large amount) can take what seems like forever. I have DSL at home and even with 6k I still hate the large updates they sometimes have. Most of the long load times you have are from you not having played in a while and may not be due to something wrong with your computer. Since the original Profecies came out there have been some major updates and even if you dont have Nightfall or Factions, the servers will download all their content to your computer so that if you get them you wont have to dl as much if any.

Ok yes its been like maybe 2-3 months since I have played the game, so what your saying, is that when it says the city im goign to right when I log on, and has the loading bar at the bottom of the screen, it is not only loading the city, but all of the updates as well?

I have a very fast conenction, but if this is the case then I completely understand because of the large update files they have.

IF so, I will just have to wait it out I guess. Thanks now I am not as worried.

There have been a number opf large updates that even slow mine down. And when I am at work I dread the new updates because I am on Cingulars wireless network (almost as bad as dial-up). I just put up with it and hope that I dont get dconned once in.

ALright, well thanks for the help. No one else seems to want to help :P

I am excited to finally be back on Guild Wars (soon at least)

One more thing I found weird, it doesnt ever ask me for the installation key when installign the key. Do you maybe know why, and if this will affect anything?
